Free the Data is a fully configured platform designed and built by Two Cents Consultants for nonprofits ready to test the waters of AI. We want you to benefit from the last three years of our learning curve with this collection of integrated apps that we have found to be reliable and impactful.

Knowing the importance of a "single source of truth" we started simple with portfolio data that is well-structured and centrally located. From there it's been an iterative cycle of testing, using and clarifying a structured learning path with built-in guardrails, signposts, and milestones so progress feels clear and earned.

What do we mean by platform? Think of it like a furnished virtual office. The walls act as governance, giving departments appropriate access roles and instilling confidence in security policies meant to encourage co-creating and collaborating. Each staff person enjoys the benefits of a "modern desktop" with embedded dashboards displaying their assigned portfolio, prioritized tasks for the day, and upcoming deadlines.

This sets the stage for a stabilized workflow with Teams as the communications hub. Meetings with shared planners, deadlines, and calendars are synced to the tools of each team member's dashboard. This eliminates the redundancy of  updating multiple checklists and status reports. Vendors and stakeholders join Teams as guest users, contributing their materials, checklists, and contracts for appropriate team members to discuss and approve.

This foundation is essential before introducing and training Copilot as a trainable assistant to fetch quick answers and handle research by compiling project data, documents, and external data like opex or rent comps.  Agents are the next step.  In our platform agents are assistive, not autonomous, taking care of the repetitive pieces—like meetings, minutes, and task assignments -- so staff can bring their best efforts and wisdom every day. 
 

This is where things get real. Reporting cycle submissions are handled with pre-mapped investor templates, leaving time for meaningful review of performance and variances; deficits and cashflow forecasting is rolled up for the CFO and waterfalls are laid out and ready for cash flow distribution requests post-audit; year-over-year trends and robust analytics are within easy reach for anyone who needs them.

Two Cents continues to refine and adapt the platform as the tools evolve, but this tour shows you what's within reach. These five sessions bring the right touch of training, readiness assessment and a companion "mind map" tool that records your brainstorming process and prioritizes your needs. 

You might leave feeling ready to build out your own workspace, or opt for setting up a secure data portal hosted by Two Cents while you get comfortable with the tools.  Knowing your options is the only way to begin charting your own course at your pace and budget.
